As a member of our Buildings group, you will provide insight and innovative construction solutions to ensure the successful execution of various commercial projects, such as: education facilities; hospitals and healthcare centres; office buildings; warehouse and distribution centres; retail outlets and complexes; recreational facilities; hotels and casinos; parkades; and mixed- use facilities. You will also further hone your skills operating under various delivery methods including Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3 (Public-Private Partnership), Construction Management and IPD (Integrated Project Delivery).


About The Role 


The Construction Manager reports directly to the Operations Manager and will have an in-depth knowledge of commercial construction execution, project management, and client management.


As a Construction Manager at Graham you will:


  • Ensuring the successful completion of the project, its profitability, and for retaining the owner as a continuing client of the Graham
  • Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures and performance standards within the boundaries of corporate policy
  • Monitoring/controlling construction progress through administrative direction of on-site project personnel to ensure project is built on schedule and within budget
  • Managing financial aspects of contracts to protect the company’s interests and maintains good relationships with client
  • Assisting with reviews and negotiates contracts; liaises with legal counsel as appropriate in conjunction with Department Manager
  • Developing, recommending and implementing the project plan after the project is awarded
  • Selecting subcontractors for projects
  • Monitoring and controlling progress, costs and budgets throughout the project
  • Advising the Construction Manager on project status and results in a timely fashion
  • Resolving disputes between the Company and owner, or Company and subcontractors when possible prior to Branch or Department Manager’s involvement
  • Identifying required and optional changes in project scope; negotiates change orders with the owner
  • Ensuring that project staff understands the Company’s operating policies and practices, and applies these policies appropriately
  • Hiring, coaching/mentoring and providing direction and reviewing the performance of personnel reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager
  • Maintaining safety standards in all aspects of each project

To be Successful at Graham, you will have the following qualifications and experience: or



  • Mechanical, Civil or Structural engineering degree or equivalent training and experience
  • 10 plus years’ experience in the construction industry responsible for commercial projects $25 million and upwards
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of commercial/civil construction (technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, engineering, estimating, scheduling and safety)
  • Knowledge of and experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design-build
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills required (tact, diplomacy, influence). Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance
